Bostik Supports United Performing Arts Fund

In the spirit of the Bostik Way, our team members nationwide participate in community service events, building relationships with organizations and people outside of our industry.

One long-standing relationship in particular is with UPAF, the United Performing Arts Fund of southeastern Wisconsin.

What is UPAF?

Founded in 1967, UPAF ensures the financial stability of various performing arts organizations within Milwaukee. Since its start, UPAF has grown tremendously, raising over $12 million in 2015.

UPAF does more than raise money, though. Committed to improving and enriching the lives of Milwaukee’s residents overall, the organization also raises awareness. It provides arts education to hundreds of thousands of children and helps bring diverse audiences together to share a common experience.

UPAF also improves the local economy, provides entertainment options and aids in recruiting better talent to the Milwaukee area.

What is Bostik’s Relationship UPAF?

For over 10 years, Bostik has supported UPAF with annual workplace giving campaigns. In 2015, Bostik sponsored UPAF’s Annual Campaign Kick-off. Additionally, for one week, various performing arts organizations come to Bostik to provide enriching entertainment, share the stories of the journeys into the performing arts and give general information about UPAF and its member groups. These include performances by musicians, singers and actors of all ages. Bostik team members can opt to donate through payroll deductions in support of these organizations.

Over the years, Bostik has increased support of UPAF, both financially and with increased involvement in activities. In 2016, we again increased 10% year over year.

Additionally, Bostik team members serve on the UPAF’s board of member groups and continue to raise awareness throughout the year.

As a member of the board of Next Act Theatre, what really excites me is that we’re bringing real-life and relevant issues to the stage.

“This season alone, we tackled racial profiling, aging and illness, the Rodney King riots and the joys and challenges of motherhood! It’s not ‘safe’ theater, and our performances provoke thought and conversation amongst our patrons,” says Kerri Kilbourne, Marketing Development Manager for Bostik’s Industrial Adhesives.

“We have a great space for about 150 attendees at any given performance, so it’s intimate and engaging as well.”

UPAF is one of the two organizations Bostik supports through payroll deductions, along with United Way. Bostik will continue to support UPAF going forward, as the company feels the arts are important to creating a community that people want to move to and stay in.
